NEFA-HR(2) Assay

NEFA-HR(2) Assay

The Wako NEFA-HR(2) reagent is an in vitro enzymatic colorimetric method assay for the quantitative determination of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) in serum.

Product information

NEFA-HR(2) Assay is an in vitro diagnostic (IVD) test for the quantitative determination of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) in serum.

NEFA bound to albumin in serum are used as an important energy source of peripheral tissues. The amount at NEFA in serum depends on a balance between intake in liver and peripheral tissues as well as on the release from adipose tissues. It decreases by physical exercise and increases by starvation, cold, fear or smoking. An increase or decrease of NEFA is also observed in diabetes, hepatic diseases or endocrine diseases. One of the major applications of this test is the diagnostics of the metabolic syndrome.

NEFA-HR(2) Assay is based on the enzymatic method using 3-Methyl-N-Ethyl-N-(β-Hydroxyethyl)-Aniline (MEHA) as a violet color agent.

Reagent 1, Reagent 1a, Reagent 2 and Reagent 2a as well a standard are required for this assay.

All reagents and calibrators are CE-certified.

Credentials

Several studies have been performed in the veterinary field employing the predecessor reagent of NEFA-HR(2) Assay, on micesowsrabbits and dairy cows and beef cows. The predecessor reagent NEFA-C was designed for manual testing, NEFA-HR(2) which is the same reagent was designed for automatic testing.
